How our price estimates work

CostCheckr is built around individual price observations rather than invented averages. Published observations may come from public provider pricing, official price lists, reputable marketplaces, verified research, or community submissions that pass review.

Aggregation

For each service and location we calculate the observed minimum, arithmetic average, maximum, sample count and most recent observation date. These are descriptive estimates, not quotes or guarantees.

Freshness

Every observation carries a date. Older observations remain visible for transparency but should be refreshed periodically. Editors can archive stale or low-quality records from the admin panel.

Sources and provenance

Whenever a public source is available we store the source name and URL alongside the price record. Community-submitted values are labeled separately and moderated before publication.

Editorial principles

We do not fabricate prices to fill missing data. When there is insufficient evidence, the page says so. Location, scope, tax treatment, materials, urgency and provider quality can materially change real-world prices.
